Salon Drama!

Salon Drama

It has happened to most of us. More times than we wish to admit.

You’re in a hair salon taking care of your hair and there’s another client seated next to you and you’re both facing the mirror.

You notice the person’s hairstyle is coming out really great and you look at their style through the mirror.

Some minutes pass by, then you decide you really want to look again to see how it’s going.

Lo and behold, you both lock eyes through the mirror because they were also looking and admiring your own hairstyle!

Oops! Akwarrrrd!

What do you do? Do you say hi? How come you’re just saying hi now after both of you have sat next to each other for more than 20 minutes?

So, what do you really do?

Here are some tips:

  • Smile. It’s the simplest and most effective way to show your appreciation for the other person’s hair. A big, goofy smile is sure to brighten their day and ease the awkwardness.
  • Give them a compliment. Tell them how much you love their hair color, style, or texture. Also be specific and genuine in your praise. This will show them that you’re not just being polite, and it’s a great way to start a conversation.

If you’re feeling really bold, you could even try to compliment their hair in a creative way. For example, you could say:

  • “Your hair looks so good. It’s making me jealous!”
  • “I love your hair color. It’s the perfect shade of [color].”
  • “Your hair is so voluminous and shiny. It’s like a commercial!”

No matter what you choose to do, make sure to be respectful and genuine because the last thing you want to do is make the other person feel uncomfortable.

Here are a few additional tips for dealing with such awkward situations:

  • Don’t be afraid to laugh. Laughter is a great way to break the tension and ease the awkwardness.
  • Don’t overthink it. The more you dwell on the situation, the more awkward it will become. Just let it go and move on.
  • If you do something awkward, just own it. The best way to recover from an awkward situation is to be honest and laugh it off.

So, next time you’re in a salon and you find yourself in this awkward situation, just remember to smile, be genuine, and don’t be afraid to laugh. After all, it’s just hair!
